Mentorship
Science is a public endeavor, aimed at improving the human condition. It is both cumulative and experimentative. While it is easy to be inspired by innovators, we must remember that they would not exist without the millions of teachers, professors—mentors, in the broadest sense—that work hard to educate the younger generations and create a fertile environment for innovators to thrive.
As we stand on the shoulders of giants, I hope I will be able to live up to the expectation of my teachers by helping younger people to find their voice and lay down their own path.
At the University of California, Davis, I help the leader of the group I am associated with, Prof. James P. Crutchfield, mentoring the Ph.D. who work within the quantum realm.
Moreover, in 2019 I became a mentor for Lead The Future. LTF is a Non-Profit Organization dedicated to helping excellent Italian students in STEM to fulfill their goals. As young students apply, depending on their Curriculum and expectations, they are matched with a professional figure who can provide advice in their future endeavors. The spirit behind this activity is to “give back” and help younger members of the STEM community to grow and blossom.

The mentoring process just started and I will know more about them in the near future.
Academic year 2019/2020
- Greta Poclen, a Bachelor student in Physics with interest in the philosophy of physics.
- Clara Del Pio and Giorgio Mentasti, two physics Master students with interest in Theoretical Physics.
In all cases, the mentee were interested in continuing their education with a Ph.D., possibly to pursue an academic career.
